Open Water Certification

owd1Now is the time to dive into the  Open Water Diver course, the most popular dive program in the world! This is your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure with NAUI, a dive company that sets the standards in the global diving community.

Throughout the course, you’ll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You will also earn a NAUI Diver certification that is recognized worldwide. You earn this rating by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water dives.

As a certified  Open Water Diver you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional. If you already tried a  Discover Scuba Diving experience or are  Scuba Diver certified, check with your instructor to see how credit from these courses may apply to the open water program. Your underwater adventure can begin as soon as today with the new I Open Water Diver Video and interactive CD-ROM! You can view these materials at home, at your own pace and then meet with an instructor for further assistance. Open water learning options also include group or private instruction. This course offers tremendous flexibility and lets you work out individual needs with your instructor.

Open Water Certification – Equipment

If you do not already have snorkeling equipment, let us fit you properly with our equipment. We guarantee the fit of everything we sell for each of our students. If you are uncomfortable with anything we have sold you for our classes, we try other styles to make sure you are properly fitted and comfortable with your personal snorkeling equipment. From our most economical package (about $250.00) to our most expensive package, you cannot make a mistake when purchasing your instructional equipment from us. Properly cared for it will give you a life-time of fun and service.

In requiring the use of our scuba equipment for all training, we ensure that you are properly fitted with the same equipment everyone else in your class is using. This results in a safer experience for everyone in the class. We regularly maintain our equipment so no time is lost in class due to equipment problems. You will use the top of the line equipment – not cheap lower end “rental” models in class. Since we require that you use our equipment for training, we offer you a way to apply the rental cost of this equipment toward the purchase of your own equipment. Ask your instructor for details on this program.

Open Water Certification – Checkout Trips

As part of your Open Water Training, you are required to do two days of diving in open water with your instructor. Since virtually all scuba diving is done from boats in salt water, we have elected to conduct our training dives in Panama, Florida in the Gulf of Mexico from privately chartered boats. We meet in Destin, Florida Saturday morning and do our first two dives, and on Sunday morning to complete the final two dives. We return to New Orleans on Sunday afternoon. In requiring the use of our Scuba equipment for all training, we ensure that you are properly fitted with the same equipment you used in you pool class.

  • You will use top of the line rental equipment. Not cheap lower end rental.
  • Ask your Instructor about how you can get your rental money back!
